William Guy Churchwell, Sr.

July 21, 1922 - September 15, 1986 (Age 64)

Sgt. William C. Churchwell, son of Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Churchwell of Cornelia, received his wings as Aerial Gunner at the Harlingen, Texas, Army Air Field recently. He is now listed as a qualified ‘sharpshooter of the sky” and it will be his job to help guard Army Air Forces’ bombers. The course which he took was so thorough that he not only learned the use of all types of weapons used in these planes, but turret manipulation, aircraft recognition, and even how to tear down and aassemble weapons while blindfolded.
