Lee Edward Ellenburg
January 1, 1945 - December 8, 2006 (Age 61)
Lee Edward Ellenburg was born January 1, 1945, in Rabun County, Georgia, and
was the second child of Roy Lee Ellenburg and Mary Ann Thompson Ellenburg.
Lee graduated from North Habersham High School in 1963 and then graduated
from the University of Georgia in 1968. Following graduation, he served his
country in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War.
In June of 1968, he went for Basic Training in Ft Bragg, North Carolina, and then to
Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He was sent to Vietnam in November of 1968 and remained
there until returning home in January of 1970. Lee served in the Artillery Division
of the US Army and attained the rank of Specialist.
After returning home, he and his wife, Cheryl Chandler Ellenburg, of Baldwin,
moved to Gainesville, GA and raised their three daughters. Lee Ellenburg passed
away on December 8, 2006. He is buried in Baldwin Cemetery in Habersham
County.
