William W. Reeves

January 1, 1922 - July 28, 1943 (Age 21)

The Grant-Reeves Post 7720, named to honor two prominent Cornelia and Habersham county members of the Armed Service who served their country so heroically in World War II - was given the title, “Grant-Reeves Post no. 7720, Veterans of Foreign Wars” - honoring respectively J. T. Grant, Jr. and William W. “Bill” Reeves.

First Lieutenant J. T. Grant, Jr., 24, son of Dr. And Mrs. J. T. Grant, of Cornelia, was killed in England on F February 10, 1945 while piloting a C-47 plane returning from a flight to France where he delivered military personnel and supplies. He served in the Armed Forces for three years, one and 1/2 of which were spent in North Africa and England.

T-Sgt. William W. “Bill” Reeves, 22, son of Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Reeves and husband of Mrs. Edna K. Reeves, of Cornelia, was reported missing in action over North Sea July 28, 1943. All efforts to locate him and other members of the crew, who were reportedly seen parachuting to sea after their plan was shot down, were of no avail.
