David 'Red' Irenus Barron

June 21, 1900 - October 4, 1982 (Age 82)

David "Red" Barron was born in Clarkesville Georgia and became one of the best football players in Georgia Tech history. He is the 22nd player to be inducted into Georgia Tech's hall of fame. In 1929, he played a year of baseball with the Boston Braves. During World War II he was active in support of bond drives and relief organizations, having been the co-chairman of amusement of war bond campaigns, 1942-1945, member of the district executive committee for the opportunity bond drive and on the executive committee of the community war fund.
