Harold Irvin was from Cornelia, Georgia and was a torpedo bomber pilot in the Pacific during World War II. He stopped in Atlanta, Georgia to visit friends and celebrate his recent Navy discharge. He stayed at the Winecoff Hotel in Atlanta on December 7, 1946 and perished in the fire that is known as the worst hotel fire in U.S. history. He was about to start a job as an Eastern Airline pilot.
