Clyde enlisted in the Army of the United States of America on November 25, 1944, Ft. McPherson, Ga; on December 4, 1944 he was placed in infantry replacement training center at Camp Blanding, Florida, qualifying as Riflemen, completing course on March 17, 1945; Army Educational Program, Darmstadt, Germany to train as automobile mechanic for 40 hrs. Operated a 1 1/2 ton Army vehicle, hauling military personnel supplies, and equipment while assigned to the Antitank Company, 3rd Infantry Regiment, stationed in the European Theater of Operations.
